Clue F4

Clue F4 (code word: Repent)

Flavor Text: I love this park, and I love the way they teach young children about primary colours in their playground. Yes, a love for science can be cultivated from young and it can start with the everyday things around us. Absolutely no complicated laboratories or chemicals required. Here’s the next clue.

Clue F4:

Electromagnetic Spectrum Camellia Sinensis Ornithopter Turdus Migratorius Kanchanjunga Rachyyas E132 Acer Pseudoplatanus Airdrome in Arcadia Canis Lupus Familiaris Malus Domestica

Answer F3

And the answer is Woodlands Town Garden Primary Color (highlight to reveal)

This is one of the most original clues I have found in my research. The solution to this game can be found here.

So far, we have been covering the theme of science for this route. I really like what is going on here. We started with names of scientists, and the need to do measurements. Then we dabbled with a little computer science with the use of binary numbers. This one used a coding method from the Genome Game, and ends with a simple test: what are the 3 primary colors? The hiding location is one of the 3 playgrounds in the Garden. And you have to dig in the sand at the right spot by solving the science question to find it. I think it adds great uniqueness to this leg of the race. :)

Clue F3

Clue F3 (code word: Watering)
Flavor Text: This is Causeway Point, a major shopping mall in Woodlands. It’s probably named this way because of its proximity to the causeway. Now, I’ve made that assumption but I cannot know for sure if it’s the absolute truth until I do some investigation to find out the reason behind the name. However, even through investigation and collection of data, my theory is empirical, and is always open to falsification. Further discussion would bring us into philosophical discourse, something we do not have time for now. I would love to have a discussion with you on this subject once you have completed this quest though. I’ll mark it down in my calendar. In the meantime, ponder over this clue.

Clue F3

Teams are given strips of paper that look like this in front. And the strips have block letters at the back.

Answer F2

And the solution is Causeway Point L5 phone (highlight to reveal)

The 1s on the board should be a great hint that this is a binary clue. Teams must poke holes on the board that are pokable. (putting the board against the light will reveal the pokable holes). After poking, some of the 1s hence becomes 0s. By converting the binary to numbers (see the link above), and converting the numbers to letters (based on their order in the alphabet, i.e. A=1, B=2, C=3), you get the answer you need.

Clue F2

Clue F2 (code word: Blasting)

Flavor Text: It’s good that churches focus on developing the young ones. A good Christian grounding forms a solid foundation upon which a lifetime of faith can be built. It’s the same with science. A good scientist uses the scientific method to explain the events of nature in a reproducible way, and to use these reproductions to make useful predictions. Ponder upon this as you work out your next clue.

Clue F2: Team are given a thick piece of board with lots of 1s on it.

Answer F1

And the solution is AMKPC Little Ones (highlight to reveal)

The obvious clue would be the different lengths of the clues. The length of the strips will indicate the letter you need in each name of the scientist on the strip. So the 2 inch strip with the name Einstein gives you the letter "I" (the 2nd letter). By solving the anagram from all the letters, you get the answer.

Clue F1

Flavor text: I believe in science and scientific evidence. You can call me the science guy. Science is the effort to understand, or to understand better, how the physical world works, with observable evidence as the basis of that understanding. Therefore, I am a very understanding guy… really. You just need to show me the evidence first. As per my passion, I have set you a very logical and scientific quest. It’s all about the ‘eureka’ moment. You will know what I mean once you get started, so here goes.

Clue F1: Teams are given strips of paper of different length, each with the name of a scientist.
