This is one of the most original clues I have found in my research. The solution to this game can be found here.

So far, we have been covering the theme of science for this route. I really like what is going on here. We started with names of scientists, and the need to do measurements. Then we dabbled with a little computer science with the use of binary numbers. This one used a coding method from the Genome Game, and ends with a simple test: what are the 3 primary colors? The hiding location is one of the 3 playgrounds in the Garden. And you have to dig in the sand at the right spot by solving the science question to find it. I think it adds great uniqueness to this leg of the race. :)

Flavor Text: This is Causeway Point, a major shopping mall in Woodlands. It’s probably named this way because of its proximity to the causeway. Now, I’ve made that assumption but I cannot know for sure if it’s the absolute truth until I do some investigation to find out the reason behind the name. However, even through investigation and collection of data, my theory is empirical, and is always open to falsification. Further discussion would bring us into philosophical discourse, something we do not have time for now. I would love to have a discussion with you on this subject once you have completed this quest though. I’ll mark it down in my calendar. In the meantime, ponder over this clue.

The 1s on the board should be a great hint that this is a binary clue. Teams must poke holes on the board that are pokable. (putting the board against the light will reveal the pokable holes). After poking, some of the 1s hence becomes 0s. By converting the binary to numbers (see the link above), and converting the numbers to letters (based on their order in the alphabet, i.e. A=1, B=2, C=3), you get the answer you need.

The original intention for this leg of the game is to do a Scrabble clue. But I couldn't get a scrabble set in time to design a clue for it. As the name suggest, you could use words and scores (which gives you numbers) to design one. Try to do a clue of your own! Another aside is that besides Scrabble clue, another popular choice for word clues is to do a Boggle clue.

With no time, I used a game from another THE GAME. In this minesweeper game, you will have to solve the game. After solving, the mines form the letters of the word you want. If you are a computing expert, designing this game should be a breeze. Else, a handmade version should not be a problem.

Clue E1:

The tallest of the last of the first of the plus of the roundest of the closest duo of the downward of the sunken of the plentiful of the capital of the right of the week.

And the Answer is The Tower at Toa Payoh Park (highlight to reveal answer)

The solution to this clue is that when we describe the 1st something of the 2nd something, we are referring to the actual letters of the word that is the 2nd something. So as a hint, right of the "week" is the letter K, because K is the rightmost letter in the word that consist of W,E,E,K.

This is actually one of the oldest trick in the book in riddles, which I will have giving out in games like this as a freebie since it is so easy. So I will put in a line like "tallest of the elves" if I want the letter L.

But this year I added a twist that almost killed me. I created a chain such that the 1st something of the 2nd something of the 3rd something and so on are all interlinked. So I have have to constantly think of adjectives that can be a solution object and yet another adjective. That I finally formed this string of words is a miracle.

Final twist to the puzzle: The first part "The tallest" is not part of the string. It means the the tallest of the "rest of the string", hence referring to the Tower. And that is what determined the usage of this coding of this leg of the race. :)

For any other people who are interested in what we have tried to do for this event. This Games day is based on The Game. Click on the link, and you will see that it is basically a high level puzzle solving game. For a first time effort from all of you, kudos on a extremely fine effort.

There are 3 factors that elevated the event today even above the usual The Game format.
1. It is a coorperative game. Clues taken along different routes are interlinked so that all groups are dependent on one another to solve the entire 60 location puzzle. This is only possible because of the participation from many presbyterian churches.
2. Though later versions of The Game has become increasingly IT based, being one of the latest version means that we get to hide even more clues in the cyberspace. So blogs, web comics, photo albums, networking sites, MSN etc were utilised.
3. This event was done in love. Sacrifices from both organizers and participants were made because we believe in giving so that all may receive. And like all acts of love, I hope the good will can continue to multiply in the future of our Presbyterian unity.

After reaching the third checkpoint, we managed to find Jane and get her behind (the box) without much difficulty. Keyword; displays = this place??? We brainstormed for a while before returning behind and realizing that we were supposed to go to the Botanical Gardens. We had also little difficulty deciphering the “number message”, which was practically filled with “2s”. Interesting!!! Well, we were on our way to the fourth checkpoint when the thunderclouds greeted us and threatened menacingly, roaring in anger and fury. Just when we thought all hope was lost, God’s grace and mercy was yet again displayed when we were informed that we only had to go to the last checkpoint. Truly our Heavenly Father answers our prayers in unique and different ways….. His tender loving care was also shown when we realized that the bus we were taking to Botanical Gardens also went to Outram Park!! Hahahahaha…
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!!! So now we are on a comfortable journey back to the last stop at the back of bus 174. Hopefully the lst checkpoint will be one that is fun and will create lasting memories for all of us.

Our previous clue led us to Wan Qing Yuan, which is Dr Sun Yat Sen's memorial place.

the clue we had was a large piece of paper, with random letters all over the place. a second piece of paper had sets of 4 numbers, corresponding to clock times. hence, a clock had to be drawn in the middle of the large paper. The minute hands of the clock were used to connect a straight line to the letters. The clock times eventually gave us:

where V was actually a mistake on their part.

Hence, we made our way back to Kuo Chuan Presby School, where LPPC's office is located.

Here, we were made to play minesweeper, where the flags actually formed words. The word formed from our game was "Point", but I don't think this is crucial or of much significance.

then look for the directions and then write down if its a south? west? whatever
when its done, get a paper and pen.

for example south would mean its a straight line. which could either be a i or a L.
and for the words, you're suppose to find out whats the missing direction description in the phrase. for example: hurry. the missing thing is up. hurry up.

2nd Clue and Location

The clue lead us to Bishan Park 2 (the one in closer proximity to Junction 8) and we went to the children’s playground.

Here, we were made to go through a total of 5 stations.

1.Climb up a webbed-structure.  

The structure was shaped like a 4 sided pyramid and all of us were told to climb up whilst holding hands. 2 person were required to touch the apex of the structure. 

2.Revolve around a metal sculpture.

 Here, we were made to link our elbows and form a circle around a metal sculpture, with all our backs to the sculpture. We were then told to revolve 1 round around it. The metal sculpture was a piece depicting our solar system, with the words Uranus on a plate, in the middle. 

3.Walking bare-footed across a pebbled pathway. 

We were made to walk bare-footed along the pebble pathway that Ah-Peks usually like to walk on. The course was in the rough shape of a circle, but we were only instructed to walk 1/4 of it. 

4.1-legged hop across a stone bridge. 

All of us had to hop across and then back again. The bridge was a connector between the hdb estates and Bishan Park. It sat over a canal. 

5.Follow the Station Master

 Lastly, we were told to follow the station master, and make a guess as to which alphabet does the path resemble. The path was in the shape of the capital letter “E”

Subsequently, we were told to go for lunch. So here we are, at AMK Hub, having our lunch.

Our next destination: Wan Qing Yuan, at Balestier

Hungry,exhausted and weary, we finally arrived at the first checkpoint. Rushing, sprinting and crazily shoving our way through masses of crowds were the ingredients to our first accomplishment. Oh, not forgetting our loving Heavenly Father’s grace and wisdom which helped us persevere and complete our task. On the way, we were nearly cheated by a scheming bus captain but luckily we managed to evade this cunning trap and took the faster way – singapore’s famous Mass Rapid Transport. We did manage to grab the public’s undivided attention with our sweaty, -red-faced cheeks and heavily-panting torsos. The first task was impressive and definitely team-bonding as we shared these gruelsome challenges to the checkpoint. The second checkpoint will definitely be way much more fun and challenging for us, so with the grace of God, we will triumph and achieve success.

How the story goes :

You find yourself at the bicycles rack next to an MRT station. It probably surprises you that so many people actually cycle to the MRT station from their homes. The bicycle as a means of transport is usually associated with the lower income families, those who can afford will own cars. Alas, art is usually seen as an upper-class activity

For example, the palaces of Versailles or the Hermitage in St. Petersburg with their vast collections of art, amassed by the fabulously wealthy royalty of Europe exemplify this view. Collecting such art is the preserve of the rich, or of governments and institutions.
However, I feel strongly that art should be enjoyed by all, regardless of status or wealth. Once you have found me, I intend to introduce art to the less privileged as well. Come on, hurry with your next clue.

Some general stuff before we start

these are just some of my personal experiences, so just something to share.

1. coffee bean outlets don't provide free wifi access, so don't make the mistake of trying to access the wireless@sg in any of the coffee bean outlets!

2. starbuck outlets USUALLY have 2 A/C power socket within the store; one near the entrance, one nearer to the counter. of course, to make things simpler, just ask the staffs to point them out to you =)

3. another venue that provides free wifi and power outlets are the national libraries. most of the young kids don't own laptops, so don't waste your time looking for power sockets at any other levels. head straight for the young children's level!

4. it would be advisable to blog within a document editor first, rather than posting straight within blogger. its been awhile since i last blogged, but back then, blogger system has the nasty habit of eating your posts once in awhile. or the network connection might just die. in anycase, better to be prudent =)

Alright! We're at west coast macs now, having lunch (or rather, the rest are while i'm multi-tasking). Our first station was The Daily Scoop at Clementi, Sunset Way. Apparently we were supposed to refer to a website with an article containing the Ice cream places, which is http://feast.asiaone.com.sg/features/topics/20050827_001.html.

BUT there was a lack of internet connection at the various stops that we stopped at, (somewhere between island creamery and coronation plaza) so we couldn't really find the place and eventually just asked for it from the station master.

When we reached The Daily Scoop we were asked to eat a whole tub of ice cream (YUM!) and guess the flavour. There are THREE flavours mixed in it. Well, we managed to taste it out (peach bum, simple vanilla and macadamia) and got the place of our next station, which is west coast lah.

And the clue for our next station is given in a word document with many black and white squares. PLUS a hint which says "THINK OF MIRRORS". Haven't solved it yet.

The Legendary Synod Youth Council

The ten met for the last time in the sanctuary of their headquarters, a sanctuary that was fast disintegrating.

“We have no more time. We cannot afford to stay here any longer. We have to leave now.” One among them spoke.

The ten looked at each other, their secret utmost in their minds.

“We will protect it at all costs, whatever the price. This is our legacy.”

He spoke fast. “We will use our talents. One each. We will create a trail, one that will enable those that come after us to uncover the secret. This way, we will never be lost. I believe that one day, someone will follow our trails, piece together the puzzle and uncover the truth. Then we shall be able to return.”

The ten agreed.

Ten Men. One heritage.

Ten talents. One legacy.

Talents. Gifts. Only one each but abundant as a group. Quickly, each used their talents to create a trail that when pieced together, would lead to the ultimate discovery.

Ten as diverse as can be. Yet each cannot stand alone. Only the unity of ten would bring about the truth, as it has been, as it should be.

With that, they came together for the last time and put their hands together. Eyes closed, they felt each other’s faith, each other’s passion, each other’s hope.

One last grip of hands. One last nod at each other.

They separated. One in each direction. Ten shadows radiated outwards from a common center, all moving too fast for anything more than a glance at them. The sanctuary collapsed. They continued moving away, away from each other, away from their land, away from their legacy. However, they believed that the trails they left behind would more than suffice in protecting their secret from the undeserving and in leading the deserving to the truth. They just had to bide their time and wait for the day where they can come together again in all their glory.

One day there will rise a group brave enough to restore the Christian truth.

One day they will see their legacy uncovered.

One day they will return in triumph.

Hi Peeps!

Samuel here from Glory Presbyterian Church and I'm 25 this year, pretty much making me the oldest around here huh =)

I've just completed my 4 years at NTU and come July I'll be joining the workforce, effectively kissing all forms of school holidays goodbye! As such, I'm trying to maximise my last school holiday and have as much fun as I can.

Anyhow, its been a while since I did anything that requires much physical exertion (read: getting FAT), so hopefully I won't find myself lagging behind too much this saturday!

Hi people, in case you haven't figured it out, all of you are in the same team. This is Team One Spirit. As a team of 80-100 members, you are subdivided into 10 groups to go on 10 different trails. This is the official blog for you to communicate with one another. You are FORBIDDEN to peek/read/google at the official blogs of the other two teams One Faith and One Body.

What do you do:
1. Upon receiving clue, blog inside here all important information.
2. Upon solving clue, blog inside here how you solved your clue.
3. Upon reaching the next location, blog inside here your experiences there.

Therefore:
1. You are dependent on the information provided here you help solve your clues. The information you provide here will help other fellow groups in your team to solve their clues. It is a cooperative game.
2. In your free time, if there is any, mark the progress of other groups in your team, and help them solve their clues if you can, if they cannot progress fast enough, they might hamper your own progress.
3. Answer questions here that other teams might need with regards to information that might help them in their clue solving. This means you should always read up comments on your entries.

Hence:
1. Proper labeling and titles is very important. Entries by your group should be group A or B, etc. Locations should be stated clearly in the title, e.g. B3 or J5 or H1 depending on which stage of the game your group is currently at.
2. Make sure your entire group participate. Every clue should be a 80-100 players solving exercise, not just a single group effort. With such a big group, no trivia is impossible.
3. Have Fun!!!

Anyways, I'm Lynn from Trueway. (: Currently 18, studying in NUS High and can't wait to graduate. Yupp and I'm feeling extremely bored at home.
